Hello,
We the real owners of the mule did not give authorization to publish, post, sell pictures, or lie about our mule. The Mules name is Barry and for all you activist he is not violent. He is an active hunter you might say. The stories you have been reading are just someones dreams of hunting. You know we all hear these hunting stories. The one that got away, chased them through the woods, and now the mule that saved a life type story.
We the owners have the mule in our possession, along with the hounds, saddle, gun, everything you see in the picture for the most part. We also have the truth and the negatives with the rest of the pictures. The mule's vet is Doc Cardwell in T or C if we need to get more specific for the scars and marks.
Anyone who wants the real truth is welcome to contact us.

Cuchillo:
If the story is inaccurate, then by all means correct it. But don't slam the story and the hunters that found it interesting and then leave everyone hanging. If it's inaccurate, the best way to stop people from spreading it is to let them know the real story. |

I realize that the stories everyone one has been reading about the lion vs mule are interesting to say the least, but all the same the stories are lies. Eventually, after this is settled, (and the attorney advises) we will publish the real story and all the details. We are glad the pictures were fascinating to so many. The pictures have been seen all over the world. This in itself is outstanding, however, recently some individuals have decided to make money from the pictures and publish as their own works.
Everyone has their own hunting stories and should not have to use someone else pictures to make their story sound better or look more genuine. I love a good hunting story as well as the next. I don't mind stories that get far fetched, but I do have a problem with someone taking another person's pictures and exploiting it as their own. We would have sent the real story out by now but the other people have not given us a chance. If we send our story out now via the net it is just going to look like another version. Is it not? The Mule is much more than just shaking a mountain lion. He is a great hunter and does some other amazing things. He also likes to chase javelina's to mention one other thing. We believe he thinks he is a hound. We are very proud of this mule and it is offensive to have lies told about him.
Please feel free to contact us.

Just thought I would add a note and give you something to think about.
On one of the stories specifically out of Arizona, the guys says the mountain lion was stalking them. Question????? Then what were they hunting?? If the mountain lion was hunting them. Their dogs must not be very smart. If if they were not hunting mountain lion were they shooting at this illegally? Huh,?
Then after the mule has supposedly stumped this moutain lion to death then someone starts taking pictures. Does this make sense to you?
In our picture the reason you see the hounds sitting there was not because they were intimidated, it is because they are well trained and were called off.
They also do not want the mule to get a piece of them. They have hunted many hunts with the mule, they know what he will do.

Enlighten us, what part of the story is a lie? All I know and have read is exactly what's posted here.
Did the mule get ahold of the mountain lion as pictured or not? You have to admit its not every day you see a mule shaking the heck out of a mountain lion. |

I don’t understand the reason for the hostilities here, cuchillo.
Everyone here is a hunter or outdoors enthusiast; this is a hunting forum not PETA!
No one here accused you or your mule of wrong doing.
This is a fascinating story for all of us hunters; I even know of several none hunters that like the story.
Then you pop in here and puff up all your feathers and stump the ground, saying that the story is a lie. Okay then tell the truth.
In one post you say the mule didn’t do that, then in the next post you say he did and he can even do more. Okay then tell us the truth!
I personally couldn’t give a **** less what the hunters were doing or where they were hunting; to me the story is a Bad *** mule kicking the crap out of a lion, period.
Did the Mule kick the crap out of the Lion? Yes or No (keep the Lawyers happy)

They’re eating all the deer here in CA also, but we’re not allowed to touch the Pussy cats.
Now they are coming into residential areas and eating people.
I say good for them. I wish I could send them the addresses of the president of PETA and Save the lion association or whatever the hell their stupid name is.
This A-hole actually stood in front of the cameras and said that the victims of a lion attack, a couple in their 50s, were at fault and got what they deserved, because they were intruding into the lion’s country. |

| yhe these people have no idea what they are doing to the ecosystem, there is an open invitation to any lion hunter with hounds to come and hunt my familys ranch here in Montana,we have so many cats the deer are virtualy non-existant.There was a 2 year old boy snatched out of his sand box and eaten here a few years back, just one of a series of recent lion attacks, they should reinstate the bounty on them and let the government trappers keep them in check, worked for years. |

| This thread was getting way off topic. It has been split off into a new thread under the "Rocky Mountains" forum. |

Just to update everyone about the mountain lion vs mule from the owners.
We have been talking to a few people that are in the process up putting retractions on the previous stories.
Two of the magazines you can look for that will have a small story about the real owner and the mule (and Lion) will be in the May edition of Western Mule magazine and Full Cry magazine.
Finally I can tell you. Yes the mountain lion was dead. Like most all should be.
The mule just hates them dead or alive.
The mule is very aggressive about it, but no he doesn't hunt them down himself and grab them. He will try and get to one if it has already been tree'd.
The pictures are a couple of years old and from south west New Mexico. |
