This past November, my son got his first deer. We went out to a little town in western Indiana right on the Wabash river, where one of my friends has a farm. We were on the last day of our hunt, which was November 26th, and we hadn't seen a deer yet, though we knew they were there. My son was up in a climbing stand about six feet off the ground, and I was sitting at the bottom of that tree. At about 7:45 AM, a doe and a little first year buck came across the fence that seperated my friends farm and the neighbor's woods. It came to about 20 yards from our tree and started feeding. My son hadn't noticed a thing. "Son," I whispered, "there's a deer over there." Just as he moved his 20-gauge shotgun to rest on the stand, the little buck looked up and saw him. He stomped his leg, seeing if my son would do anything. Thank God he didn't. My son got him in his sights and...
POW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
blew his muzzle off and broke his back. I feel so proud  |
