How can hunting rights loss be stopped?

Note that this is a follow up to the August poll where, at poll closing, 76% of voters believed that Animal Rights activists threaten the state of hunting.

In this poll we hope to highlight ways to stop the limiting and restriction of hunting rights.

I think voting is the only sure fire way to make a difference. Although joining a hunting group is a good idea too.

The problem I have when I vote, is it is hard to know in advance where a candidate stands.

With big elections, like for the president, it usually comes out where they stand. However with congressional races and other more local positions it doesn't come out as much where the candidate stands.

As for "Hunting Ethically", well I think that is a crap shoot. Some will say hunting "by definition" isn't ethical, others will say that unless your only eating green stuff your not ethical. So, while you should be a responsible hunter, I don't think that by itself is enough.

We have got to take there thunder away,,Why not buy in to their idea,, lets form a network of hunters and gun owners ..then get a gov.agency to certify us as responsible, law abiding ect. include a background check. at our expense... if we check out .. then we will recieve a photo ID .which would allow us to own arms ammo ect .. if we don't behave then it could be taken away...Lets Certify The Right to have Arms ...Then we can't be precieved as a bunch of Bubba's with guns......

Welcome to the board, J. Frank. Many people have proposed what you're suggesting. But what concerns me is what happens if the government agency certifying me as "responsible" is headed by Hillary Clinton, Chuck Schumer, and Diane Feinstein.

There are a lot of people out there that would consider you and I unbalanced and therefore irresponsible simply because we want to own a weapon. The trick is to define "responsible." Thankfully, most states define it for concealed carry purposes as having a clean criminal record.

I agree that voting is the number 1 way to prevent erosion of rights. Voter apathy in this country is tragic, and it may be because people watch the media polls and decide that their candidate is going to lose, so why bother? I personally will vote for a candidate even if I know for a fact that he'll lose because I want to send a signal to the other guy that he doesn't have a mandate and therefore should mind his P's and Q's.

But that's not all -- we need to take a clue from our opponents and speak out! Case in point is Accor Hotels' decision to back away from partnership with the HSUS due to sportsman pressure. Check it out (the bit about Accor is at the end of the article):

Well I personally told Tom Bodette not to leave a light on for me six months ago, through Accor, because of their support of the HSUS.
