I'm a first timer, obviously. I'm 6'6" and have a wing span of 6'9" I'm a pretty big guy and I'm trying to find a compound bow for mostly Elk hunting and some deer hunting. I went to a local sports shop and he told me that I have a 34" draw. Does anyone know a company that sells a bow that big for a first timer to the sport? And does anyone know how to measure your "draw" correctly? The best brands for shafts and heads to use for Elk? To use a "peep" or other "sights"? What about a good arrow rest? A good "release"?
Like I said-I'M A NOOBIE!! :D |

| You're a big one! I'll put my $$ on you over the elk! :) All kidding aside, I'm not sure of what company would have that. You'd probably have to be measured and have a bow custom built/ordered for you. You would have to start with a longer bow to begin with because i'm sure the new short ones would definately be out. |

Or you could give up the idea of a compound, and grab an old English Longbow, don some buckskins with tassles, and head out to the woods with some hand crafted arrows. :D
I agree - looks like you're in for a custom job... |

| Not sure what stores you have in your area, but here if your a beginner, ya just have to go to Scheels, Cabelas, Gander Mountain, or a Sportsmans Warehouse, and talk to them, and they would get you all set up with everything you'd need for a newbie!! Good luck, and welcome to a grrrrreat sport. |
