I drew a bighorn tag in Idaho's 27-4 unit and was wondering if anyone else drew a similar tag or has experience in this unit.

Congrats! ... I drew 27-1 ... we'll be across the MF from one another. I put in a post for pointers please. I've been in the Mt. Jordan area of your unit. Also up and a bit south of Tango. It's incredibly beautiful country up high. We didn't see sheep at the time - but nor were we looking for them.

Unreal !!! ... my dad drew the early hunt in 26. He'll hunt 26 while I hunt 27-1. We're accumulating info ahead of season and will certainly have huge amounts of info by the time you go in. Are you from around here? Have you ever been in the Big Creek drainage? It's FABULOUS, remote, up-n-down country. Shoot me an email. Jeff F. Serious Hunter

Dear Idmd,
... how's your hunt going?
I got a ram on 8/31 in 27-1.
Maybe I can help with some of our experience.

here's some pics from our Unit 27-1 hunt ...

and from my Dad's Unit 26 hunt ...

Interestingly ... my Dad's ram apparently broke a tooth, and stopped growing in the process ... smaller animal, but just as old, or older.
Tim ... do you want me to post your ram pic? |

Nice Ram! I've been applying in most western states to get a shot at one. Somebody has to draw, right? If you haven't already, you should submit a hunting report with Grand Slam/Ovis (www.wildsheep.org) if you are a member.
