| I wouldn't say what is the best set-up, But I use a 20ga. with #4's for blue grouse, and #2's to help go thru the trees a little better. But I also always aim for the head too. I say a 20ga because that is all that I own. |

| i always use my winchester 12ga pump on grouse also but i once in awhile use my russian made 20ga |

I've had success with a 12 gauge Benelli SBE (Super Black Eagle) semi-auto shooting 1 1/4-oz. of Winchester Supreme #5 lead shot @ 1,400 fps in a light modified choke.
If cover is denser than average, it's best to consider staying with #5 or #6 shot, but going to a full-modified or even full choke if necessary. |

| 12 guage 2 3/4" #6 improved choke,no better combo for grouse,3" shells blow them to unedible pieces and thats a horrible waste grouse is some of the best wild game in the hills YUM!! :thumbsup1: |

I use 3" mags, #4 12ga, all head shot. I do it with a Remington 1100 3" magnum express, unedible only if you hit them wrong, should be shoting the heads anyways. :[-X |

| i always use 3 inch i use 2/3 also but i use both it dont matter thier heads come off either way you put it there is people that use .22 .410 12 16 20 almost all shotguns are good for grouse just depends on you. |
