I am ooking hard at the Optima, and I was wondering how long they have been out, and why do they go to nickel instead of stainless? Thanks for any info, this is my first crack at this. Regards - Gordy.

Just a guess, but stainless steel is more brittle than "normal" steel. Might make it less than ideal for use in a blackpowder firearm.

I was wondering because it is offered on a lot of guns. I am thinking of getting the CVA Optima ML and don't know much about the nickel plating. Thanks for the reply - Gordy.
