I recently lost some private property that I was allowed to hunt on, so I a m going to try hunting in minnewaska state park this year. I have seen many deer in the area during other seasons but i have never hunted there. does anybody have some suggestions for this park?

the catskills are a great set of mountains. I am not familar with the area you specified but i have hunted on an island in a resevoir and found out deer there are great swimmers. also i found many deer out there i shot a 145lb six point with a .357 mag at .25 yards away. The catskills make a hunt of a life time.

Well I just returned from hunting the park, and for the most part the hunting there i felt wasn't all that great in the part of the park that I had hunted. Too many mountain laurels, it made walking near impossible. I probably scred every deer within two miles. Finally i did get into some beautiful hunting unfortunetley i had already created such a racket. But on the bright side I found sme nice land that I willl be allowed to hunt on in the future.

I normally do scout, but this trip was thrown together quickly, and I sacrificed planning to be able to get out there quickly on one of my few days off. But its ok because I still got my big canadian whitetail, and at least i got to go spend a day in the woods which is really all that matters.
