I am very interested in any information that I can get my hands on regarding black bear hunting in North Georgia. I hunted one of the WMA's a few weeks ago and saw quite a few tracks, some fresh, and it really got me excited, but I am a novice. If anyone can give me a few pointers, I would welcome them. The country is so steep and so thick that it seems as if the best bet is to get up high, and just sit down somewhere with a field of view and glass or call. Is this about right? (Baiting is illegal, so that's out.) Thanks for your help in advance!

One more thing I forgot to ask...I have heard several opinions, all different, on the right bullet for these bears. Are ballistic tips wrong for these buggers? I have used core-lokt bullets in the past, but not liked the expansion as compared with the ballistic tips. (But that was on deer) Once again, any help is welcomed.

Hey there.
There is a forum similar to this specifically for Georgia hunters. Here is the link;

http://www.woodystaxidermy.com/forums/index.php

If the link doesn't work Go to google and type in Woody's taxidermy forum. When the page opens go to campfire talk and there it is.
There are a lot of Georgia hunters on that site and I am sure you will find whatever advice you are looking for. Be warned ahead of time, some of these guys are pretty rough but, keep asking questions untill you get the answers you are looking for. Keep updateing your topic to keep it on the top of the page. There are a lot of topics and if you don't get an answer the first day your topic could fall off the first page and not be seen by anybody. Also make sure that you come up with a good topic heading because there are so many different treads yours may not get looked at if its not catchy or good.
This is the place to find out everything you need to know about Georgia hunting.

I wouls sugest putting your question under two different headlines
Hunting Talk and Deer Hunting(use deer hunting because thats where most of the people look first and once you are in that area of the forum it may be a hour before you finish and then you don't have time to check out anything else) a lot of hunters only open Deer Hunting.
