I am planning an Elk hunt in the area north of Tobin Lake, Saskatchewan this fall. Is there anyone out there who has hunted in this area? If so do you have any advice on where to go?

I grew up in that area, the farm/forest fringe along the Torch River or in the Fort a la Corne forest would be my picks. However it's my understanding that Sask elk hunts are for SK residents only.

Thanks for the info Saskie. Unfortunately Fort a la Corne is a draw zone only, and I will be hunting the regular rifle season which starts Sept 13. I think I may start scouting up north of White Fox, near the flats along the Torch river, maybe speak to some of the locals. If you have any more ideas on where to go, I would really appreciate them. Thanks again.

I've heard good things from that area, especially north of Love. Find the old Grassy Lake fire tower and start scouting that area and along the river there. Historically north of Snowden/Choiceland used to have a herd long before elk hunting became "fashionable", I haven't lived there for 15yrs now, so my info is a bit out of date.
