When I first started hunting, my dad always told me to check each rabbit's liver for spots or discoloration.

This was before we knew about gloves.

I know I don't eat any rabbit if their livers show this.

Am I correct in reading that in paragragh 3 of this article its okay to eat infected meat as long as it's properly cooked?

Spotting of the liver may be due to Tularemia or another infection.

Tularemia is a bacteria and complete cooking most likely would destroy it. However Tularemia is transmissible from game to people by air; therefore it is not advisable to consume rabbits that show signs of Tularemia (white or yellow spots on the liver) cooked or otherwise.
