me and my buddies are thinking about getting into coyote hunting i ve read and heard from my shop teacher its very exciting where and how should i do it? i m almost clueless on this other than all i have read online (do a lot of reading) and i m looking for beginer tips on what cal. gun to use what type of call is the best for when etc. anything will help on this guys i m thinking of using my .243 deer rifle for it and i ve read many things on what type of bullets best gr. wise but not for my area i have about 5 calls the triple shock from primos (heard it was a p.o.s) and 3 lomans calls the pro pack? i dont know and the primos mini mag howler from what you know give me you best shot all will be helpful Thanks :-?

i ve also thought about using a shot gun for thick stuff what size shot should i use? ex. #5 buck or what? thanks for you help

I gather you have not hunted before! :D
#1 you are not going to get that close to a coyote-
the caliber of rifle is up to you- anything from a .17 to 300 Win Mag
most hunters use a dying rabbit call :roll: :roll: :roll:
you need a good rifle and optics- lots of practice

I would get a rifle you can use to hunt something else-
if you are going to do Deer or Elk I would go with 30-06 8) 8)
this caliber has at least 100 different loads 8)
get yourself a chair and a set of shooter sticks
sticks you can make on your own if interested on how - send me an e-mail

How's everything in SW Washington.
If you can, get yourself two rifles. A bolt action in 270win and a 30-06.
Load 130's and 140's in the 270 and 150's and 180's in the 30-06. You'll have all the bases covered for Washington, from long range varminting to the big Roosevelt's. Save the shotgun for the birds and rabbits. A 12ga. or 20ga with #7 1/2 or #8 shot.
