I'm sure Alfred Nobel is rolling in his grave. What has the Dear Leader done to win this in the international community? Answer, nothing! I suppose the award could have gone to the American People for electing him in the first place but that would have certainly cause a hue and cry to give America in general credit for anything. I'm dissapointed and amused at the same time! I don't know if I should laugh or be frightened that the entire world seems so taken with this man that he should get what should be a great honor for accomplishing nothing. When you consider the cut off date for nominations was February 9th (if memory serves) Obama had just taken office. This is a demeaning moment in the history of a noble cause.
I don't believe the award was given to Obama for accomplishing anything except replacing the hated Bush monster. |

| I agree with you Bunny 100%! I was in total disbelief when I heard Obama won. He had done absolutely nothing to deserve this honor. But then Gore didn't either in my opinion. |

did obama do anything to earn this? NO
did he do anything that might yet earn this award in the future? NO
this is not an indictment of obama but is a very damning indictment of the nomination/selection/award process and the judges. they have by the individuals named recently so cheapened the award that i have no respect for it. :[-X |

| When you consider some of the past recipients of this "award" such as but not limited to Al Gore, Yassar Arafat and the UN "peace keeping forces" (with their history of theft rape and murder) I guess I shouldn't be shocked or appalled at anything coming out the European intellectual community. In fairness Obama seems as bewildered as anyone and this is not an indictment of him so much as it makes a ridiculous mockery of what should be an honorable tradition. |

I liked Peggy Noonan's op/ed regarding Obama's peace prize.

I stopped thinking anything much about the Nobel Peace prize when it was awarded to Muammar Gaddafi and Yasser Arafat. At that point the prize has lost it's meaning as far as I'm concerned.
Obama hasn't been around long enough to merrit one, nor has he done much yet in the war on terror. Erradicate Al Queda, and the Taliban, then you can say you've achieved something towards peace. He has three more years to make a dent, we'll see what happens. |
