Hi Guys!! I'm new to this forum and after reading for a couple hours I figured I better join. I live in New Mexico and have big game hunted for about 10 years. I'm not so Savy with the Elk though. My dad drew a tag in unit 9 (mount taylor area) and I'd love to get him a big bull. I've got some information on the area from a couple buddys that I bass fish tournaments with but I'm wondering if anyone on this site can help. Basic Elk Hunting tips would be appreciated also. Like which side of the mountain they bed on. I can never remember. LOL or anything that might be of use. Should I call since I'm a beginner?? Whats the best method of taking a bull?? Spot and stalk or setting up on a water hole?? From what I've heard from friends in 2b and 16 the elk havent started bugling yet. Hopefully my pops hunt will hit right in the heart of the rut. I can be of some use as far as units go. I've been in quite a few different areas. Mostly because my cousin has hounds for Bear and Lion. So if I can help out drop me a line.
