I am some what new to hunting. I have tryed deer hunting the past 4 to 5 years no luck didnt see any either..ive read books watched dvds...I get a disability each month have a mental disorder i dont catch onto things as fast as some do...what i need is someone to take me hunting/be a mentor for me hopefully my area..andspend some time with me at the range make sure im sighting in my gun the correct way etc...Or just let me tag along on one of your days out to show me the "proper" way to do things.I guess what I am asking is for someone in the Fort Dodge area, that is a deer hunter or at least knows a little about it, to step up and go with me to the range and help out, then eventually be able to guide me if I need further assistance at that point. Or ask me to come along if your already headed to the range anyway.

Thanks for your help,

alan

Welcome aboard Alan. Unfortunately, I am from Michigan, but I wish you the best of luck.

Check with your local DNR to see if they have some seminars comeing up. I live in MN and can't really help you out. I do know that our DNR puts on a few seminars/classes on deer hunting and turkey hunting. See if you can find something like that. Also check your local sporting goods stores and see if they have anything coming up. You local gun range may also. Maybe a class on shooting or gun safety can get you started in the right direction.

I hope this will help. I found this link on your states DNR links page.

There are firearms training courses scheduled but I dont know if they are close enough to help you. also check out NRA, USSA trailblazer program, "Becoming an outdoors woman" has great programs and you dont need to be a woman to participate. I also saw that there is an Iowa rifle and pistol club and they might have a program or two for you.
Best of luck to you.
