Hello from Germany!

At 7th of august I'll travel to Sweden on vacation for 2 weeks. There me and my family have leased a nice wooden cabin in the countryside in the southern part of SWE. There will also the possibility to hunt at roedeer and wildboar. I'll take my .30-30 Handi Rifle with me and some Hornady Leverevolution pills. That will fit both for roedeer and boar.

Give a report asap!

Regards

Good luck buddy. I am living vicariously through you right now since no hunting season is open here in New York.

Hello from Germany!

Since 23rd of aug I'm back from my vacation in southern Sweden. I was located in a nice wooden cabin 20 km southeast of Vimmerby. There are many forest and lakes. Looks a bit like little Canada. Since 16th of aug the roebucks were open. I had the possibility to hunt in the 130 hectar hunting area of my landlord. I saw lots of does and fawns especially on new clearings in the forest. One day before leaving I saw a roe buck (6pointer) about 150m away in the forest between the trees. but it ws too far and it was the neighbour area. So I could only watch him. my landlord offered me the possibilty to take part at a moose (Elch) hunt in october, when they are open. Try to manage this.

I apologize for not having more to report!

Regards

I been wanting to hunt Sverige for ten yrs or more. One day when I retire I'll actually do it  . I been researching it and I can hunt there cheaper than Canada or AK. The way the economy is heck I might even emigrate :thumbsup1: to the land of Husqvarna.

Hello from Stockholm!

We harvest about 80 000 moose a year in this country - Sweden is the size of California, so the moose density is substantial...and they are called "älg" in Swedish (Elch in German, pronounced similarly) but they are moose, not elk. Unfortunately, we cannot hunt with handguns here - which is my preferred sport - so I need to go to the US for hunting purposes....that's life I guess....

I did apply recenlty for the NH and ME moose tags, though without success this year. Last year, I was in PA a couple times and got a whitetail doe, a boar and a four horn ram with my custom S&W m/29 44mag.

What part of Pa did you hunt? Was it a preserve?

Yes, the Wilderness Hunting Ranch south of Everett, SW PA. A nice place.
