Howdy all! Im new to this forum, looks like some good stuff goin on around here.

Anyways, I'm new to orygun and lookin to find out some info on blacktails. What they eat, where they are, mannerisms, stuff like that. I grew up hunting mule deer in Idaho so this is a different kind of hunting for me. I've been out about four days this season and have only spotted 1 doe in the brush. I guess its a little early for the bucks to be rutting but its about time isnt?

BTW - I live in lebanon, or and been hunting around here, and some in the coast range.

Thanks in advance for any info provided.

Ive hunted blackies all my life so heres a few tips. Hunt the mornings, I ve never got one right at sunrise always after. Watch the tree lines and creek beds. My two best --a three x three and a really nice fork have been around water. I like hunting the winter storms. If it s windy and raining its DEAD. i got a nice spike yesterday. I don't care for trophys i like the meat so it doesn't matter to me. good hunting and will keep an eye on this for your results!!!:D

Well the dang blacktails got me again this year. I did get to chase one forked horn up this hill.....right to some old man sitting on a stump 50 yards away from his truck. Oh well at least he was able to hunt he looked awfully old, I got alot of years left to hunt so its ok he got it instead of me.

At least I know a little more about these dang deer than I did last year, and I got out into the woods (oh wait I do that anyways) and out of the house. Now its time for our 4 day elk season.

your in for a good experience. Blacktails will fluster you. Many times I figure i have outsmarted then to have them dissapear. They are one sly creature. I got a buck this year on the last day of the general rifle season and he was in the rut. Also afternoons just before dark have been good times for myself. Good luck.
