Hey all, I am heading into the backcountry for my Elk hunt. I have a bull tag for the early rifle here in CO, and I am hoping to catch one with a shot from my 7mm. Well good luck to everyone else hunting. I will tell you all about it when I get back.

| No bueno!!!!! That is the phrase from this elk hunt. It was the worst hunt I have ever had. Nothing went right. I actually twisted my knee so badly that I had to stay in camp. If I had been able to walk the first morning, I would have had a shot at a nice 6X6. Man it was just not to be. I could have save myself the money on this one. It would have been a better idea. |

| I too just returned from colorado the conditions where ruff. warm, dry and very little water.hunted pretty hard for 5 days didnt even see an elk until 15 minutes before the game over horn sounded.a quick last minute glassing into a draw below me produced a nice 5x5. the hunting gods were with me, and with 2 very shakey shots we had a very nice trophy to bring home. to all still going dont give up hunt hard to the last minute and good luck. |

Hope your knee gets better Schemy and you didn't twist it bad. Knees can be delicate unfortunately, better luck next year. I'm not chasing elk this go around. Too much in the freezer from last year.
Congrats Claycrusher, good example of how you never know what the next day or next few hours hold. Sometimes opportunity doesn't knock and sometimes it only knocks at the last moment. |
