| I've never hunted Black Bear before, went out into the woods scouting and didn't even see any fresh tracks or poop. Where does one look? I live in the Northern Idaho's Silver Valley. Like to go up to BumbleBee,Steamboat areas. My son and I have our bear tags, now just need to find them. Also, when we do get one, how do you dress one out,and how do you quarter one out to get it out of the woods? |

To help locate your berry patches,after that glass old burns,clearings and such.Walk old logging roads,bears will go into heavy cover during the day but don't sleep.This time of the year they eat about 15-20 hrs a day.
A bear will not leave good food until it is all gone.
In the event of getting one feild dress them like a deer.That way you can still have a rug made.I have never quatered one always pack them out whole.
I'm from Montana and the bears should be some what similar in habits.

Thank You. Went hunting today and was told the bear have pretty much depleted the food sources in the higher elevations and it has also been too hot up there. I was told to stay low mostly by rivers and streams. Is this good advise? Sorry to be such a pain in asking these questions but, I am still a rookie at this hunting stuff. Boy is it fun!! My Wife and Son are also having a good time too! She just gets alittle antsy cause we have seen no wildlife except chipmonks and sqirrels. NOT GIVING UP!
