From Pueblo down South, I've seen nary a cottontail on Predator hunting forays. Maybe it plays a part in the poor coyote numbers I and others I've talked to have noticed. They seem to be on the downward part of their cycle in these parts. I think the seven year cycle does happen, but that this can vary from area to area such as different pockets can be bad or good. But, with that being said I've hardly seen any this year in several different areas. Jack's seem to be low as well, but have been that way for awhile.
Any one else in Southern Colo. experiencing this? |

| I have noticed this too. Im guessing it is either the cows on my property or the coyotes. I don't know. I will try to shoot off the coyotes and see if the population goes up |

| Over here on the east coast, on my place, we have had good rabbit numbers until about 2 months ago. They just vanished! I know that owls catch alot of them on moon-lit nights, and I have seen that too many times. But, lately, I think the owls have had some help. Too darn many squirrels, though! |

| Went on a combined coyote, prairie dog, rabbit, hunt last Sat. No yotes, but I did manage to 'blow' up some P-dogs with the 22-250 and 22 Mag. That was fun. Finished up with three cottontails with the 22 Long Rifle for my uncle at right before dark. Their slowly starting to come back (bunnies) but nowhere near the numbers I saw three/four years ago. |
