What is the best .22LR ammo on the market? I'm hunting squirrels, rabbits and coons with a single shot, scoped rifle and am looking fo advice on the most reliable and powerful ammo to use with this 23" barrel. It is not a heavy barrel.

Are all of the bullets 40 gr?

Does anyone use the .22 shot shells? Will they harm the barrel?

Thanks in advance for your advice...I usually hunt with a Marlin 1895G in .45-70 Govt. and I'm pretty sure I've got that dialed in but I've decided to extend my season with some small game hunting and haven't done this for awhile.

Remington Yellow Jackets work really well. And the CCI Stingers are real good but quite expensive!!

Thanks for the advice! I tried some CCI ammo this past Sunday when I zeroed the scope. The box said 1240 fps...not the 32 gr hot stuff. I'll try that too.

I also bought a box of both the Rem and Winchester. I don't know the specs on those. I'll have to look them up. Then I'll let you know how they did. Thanks again and good luck out there.

I use the Remington Viper and Thunderbolt rounds for grouse/ptarmigan and rabbit shootins....there's a good review of .22 rounds which can be found here http://www.oldjimbo.com/surviv.....rials.html
