WELCOME to BGH :D
A simple call to the airline you are flying with would be my best advice. None of them operate under a universal set of rules, all have their own and been known to " make it up as they go"
I wouldn't try it with your carry on luggage under any circumstances and regular checked baggage might just drive the dogs a little nuts.
Call your carrier, note date and time and person you spoke to
Good luck on your hunt. |

I live in TN. I went to Vancouver BC a few years ago to Bear hunt.
I brought my Bear hide back on the plane in my luggage. I double bagged it to wear it was leak proof, then I froze it. Then I wrapped it in my sleeping bag right before I left for the airport and stuffed it in my duffelbag.
Made it back just fine. No one said anything when it went though the xray, I waited just to make sure.
Good Luck on your hunt, wish I was going with you! |

Why bother when you can freeze it an ship it overnight frozen with any one of a number of companies, Fed Ex, DHL,etc.
I've done that with all my capes since the airlines have gotten so picky...as a matter of fact on last years trip to Alaska I shipped an inlaind grizzly hide back frozen next day..with insurance, insulated box and freight charges it came to $87.68...hardly more than excess baggage fees and I wasn't left to fret over if it was going to be left in some forgotten corner of some forgotten terminal, or if some anti hunting kook purposely rerouted it to Thialand or something....my wife called on my cell to tell me it was home BEFORE I had even left Ak. |
