Hello I was just wondering if anyone has been scouting Deer yet. Me and a friend have been scouting for spots and we have spoted a really great buck twice now. The first time we spooked him when he was belive it or not bedded up in the middle of a cow pasture, the second time we got within id say 40 yards of him in the same spot with a bunch of does. Plus I have been watchin the Turkey i have seen some big toms around.

I haven't been scouting, but then I'm not hunting deer this year.
It will be interesting to see if you run across this buck when the season starts. They seem to get wise once the hunting pressure turns up.

Well see thats the good part we are surounded by wall to wall farmers the neighbor to the east of us owns 2000 acers the guy to the south of us about 800 and to the north about 400 and with no one else hunting it there is no pressure. Im gettin ready to go put one of my stands up within the next week. I just hope that we do see him in the season.

Sounds like you stand a good chance to run into him again. Good luck!

I do most of my scouting right after the season (looking for a new area), in the early spring(shed hunting) and then the week or 2 right before opening day (to make sure the area still holds deer).
The rest of the time I try and stay out of my hunting area as much as possible. I've starting looking for a spot to hunt here next year - so far just driving and glassing in the evenings. We saw 14 last night - all does and yearlings though. |

Well tonight me and a friend sat in the stand over looking the field and 4 does came out and were actin odd. So me and mike start lookin when 3 more came out then a few more and a few more untill the field had about 30 deer in it. Then to my suprise my buck came back to visit this time at 35 yards for more than 10 min and hes a 150 to 160 class 8 point, wow what a rush i have never had a buck that big stay right at my stand for so long. Now me and my friend are freaked out kuz now we have come to find out that we have been seeing 2 bucks both big but the one is just perfect.
