| I am new to Moose Hunting in Alaska. I am looking for a good Moose call that will work well in Alaska. I realize that a good majority of moose hunters use their own voice to produce these sounds. Unfortunately I do not have enough time to learn this before the season starts. Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

Welcome Alaskan100. There is a discussion about moose calling in the moose forum that may help you out.

Hey Pilgrim,
You have plenty of time to learn the basics...easy. No one makes a good call, so cup your hands together & give it a whirl. I taught my 9 year old daughter how to do it.
Check out: http://www.sherryfelix.com/MOOSE.htm
Best of luck with your hunt. I go north 9/11 for 10 days myself. |

Although this hunting season is over you might want to check out Lohman's cow moose call next year. It's inexpensive, (about $12.00)fits in your pants pocket, and is very effective. It also comes with a cassette that tells you how to use it and and includes how to imitate bull moose grunts.
Good Luck!

The Bull Magnet.. Great for calling and scraping trees and brush.. won't break down. Also can use it for filling with water and pouring out like a cow peeing...

I used the Lohman's cow moose last year and was surprised how good it worked. I blew it 3 or 4 times and the moose was dead 10 minutes later.
Even if you get the bull magnet, I would still pick up a Lohmans. Its cheap and very easy to carry - definately worth the $12 I spent.
