| Anyone familiar with 34A?. I have a late October hunt and have only been in the unit once hunting Javelina. Saw a ton of does hunting pigs. Any tips for this unit or Coues in general are appreciated. This is my first deer hunt!!! |

For starters go to the AZ Game and Fish web site and search "Unit 34A"; lots of good information. I have hunted that area and always find that the majority of hunters tend to hunt close to the roads(camps) and do not get very high. The bigger bucks tend to be 1/2 mile from the roads and feed at the higher elevations up till about 9.
If this is your first hunt I would suggest that you start scouting in the Sawmill Canyon area. If you get time head to Patagonia and go to the Temporal Canyon and Wood Canyons. Get good maps.

Thanks Tux!!! I plan to start scouting as soon as it cools down a bit. I picked up a Jr. Javelina tag for my neice and we will be in the unit a couple weeks before my Deer hunt. I hope to have a good plan by the time we leave - and maybe her 1st pig. I have a Coronado National Forest map and hoped to narrow things down and pick up a couple USGS Topo maps. Thanks for the areas to check out. I like to be away from the crowds so we will be well off the roads and into the hills.
