I am looking into purchasing a used rifle, for all the big game species. I have been looking at three differnt rifles and cannot decide which is the best bang for the buck. Please help me decide...

The first riffle is a Tikka T3 Lite 7mm stainless steel barrel. It comes with a Nikon Monarch 5.5-16.5x44 scope with lense covers. They are asking $575.00

The second rifle is a Win modle 70 300wsm, with a muzzle break and a Bushnell Pro Elite 4200 series 4-16x40 They are asking $700.00

The last rifle is a Rem modle 700 sps .308 with a leupold vx1 3-9x40 and they are asking $600.00

Any info on the gun manufactures, scopes, caliber would be greatly appreciated....

Tikka rifles are very good shooters, it being a light you will get the recoil. Nice scope but a little high on power if you are hunting wooded areas
Winchester: plug you ears everyone get to hear when you shoot. Becoming a very popular caliber; good ballistics, Great Scope.
Remington: Standard cal. Good scope over priced for a used gun
Find the one that fits you the best, the one when you shoulder the weapon you are looking straight though the scope without having to adjust yourself. All weapons will bring down big game animal, it’s all about shot placement. You find the one that fits you, you will shoot it more and become more proficient with it, better shot placement, cleaner kills more meat in the freezer.

p.s. is it a camo t3 or laminated?? both come in the stainless. i have the t3 camo stainless and absolutly love it....was a huge browning fan before but i think this one takes the cake...what a shooter!! good luck with your decision!!

Out of that bunch I'd take the 308 and never look back. In my view the scope is a much more suitable, power wise, hunting scope. Next, that you asked this question makes me believe your a bit short on experience. If that is right, I'd stay on the short side of recoil.

I don't personally know anyone that has hunted all big game that has stuck with only one rifle or one cartridge forever. The time comes you want to take on an animal the 308 might be questionable at, the hunt will cost you so much that a new rifle in a larger cartridge will be pocket change. In the mean time you'll be using one of the most successful rifles ever made with a great track record for accuracy and safety in a cartridge that also has a great record for accuracy the will handle probably 98% of the game in North America. It will also be wearing what is undoubtably one of the best guarenteed and best made scopes in the world.

Tough question with out being able to see and handle the firearms.
Just from what you have given here.
The T3 has the reputation as being a good shooter (have never handeled on personaly) The lightweight will be nice carrying all day but it will kick a little more esp in the belted mag. If you might be a little recoil shy? Nicon makes good optics with a good warenty these days. The scope new is around $300. Remember that 10 power is the max that a human can hold (without some kind of mech help) and stay steady. The 44 objective will give good field of view and greater light gathering capabilities.

The 70 is increasing in value due to winchester changing hands. Personally I am not a fan of the WSM's so unless I wanted the gun as an investment I would not consider this gun. I do think that Bushnell (to the shagrin or other members here) makes a good scope. I have one on my P-H 30-06, it has been on that gun for over 10 years now. I said that I would put a better scope on it in a year or 2 (when I could afford one). Every year I pull that gun out before hunting season and that scope is dead nuts. I have seriously never adjusted it since I sighted it in the first time. Tough to loose a scope like that.

The 700, a good gun in a good cal with a good scope, simple as that!

The Rem 308 with the leupold is the best set up.
Price is way out of line.
If the combo is in good to excellent condition. Offer them $450, out the door. If they want more. I'd keep looking.
Don't mess with the other two, if your looking for a hunting rig.

Try getting them to come down on the price for the Remington model 700 in .308 with the Leupold scope or keep looking.

I would definetly go with the Rem .308. I would also like to say I would pay the six if the gun in nice enough and it suits you. I payed 500 for My 30-06 from a friend, used, without a scope and I never looked back . I love it and I love Bushnell even if I was a pro I would still use Bushnell. I had a 1.5-4.5x32mm then moved to the 3-9x40. Now a couple days ago I moved up to the bad boy the 6-18x50 and its smokin and ready for bear season on friday.

The best value of those listed is probably the T3. However the Model 70, depending on the specific variation may actually be a better buy.

$600 for a stock used SPS with a VX-I is too high.

Scrap them all and go and purchase a Tike T3 .308 and mount your own scope and break the barell in correctly and you will have a nice inexpensive tack driver!
