Anyone in CA ever duck hunt in the northeastern part of the state. I got drawn for x4 witch starts 10/4 and duck hunting starts 10/6 around the same area. I thought I might bring my shot gun along.

Are you hunting in Tule Lake or Klamath Falls? Shooting time ends at 1PM in those two refuges, and you need a boat. You also need a day permit from the Department of Fish & Game Station. I think it's at Tule Lake, but it's been a while.

Its been a few years since iused to liveand was hunting down there but to get the permits you went to the refuge head quarters there along the ridge or they used to have them at the entrance at lower klamath. also D&B 4 life is right about Tule lake but there were a couple of place to walk in hunt on Lower Klamath. Another option is to hunt the ridge, to do that you gotta turn off state line road at sheepy peak campground and there are a few places to turn up on the ridge, go all the way up to the peak and hike down the other side to the notch and there are some blinds built in there, then just watch each side. Now that im done with that if im thinkin right isn't X4 a little closer to Honey Lake? that would be another option for ya but im not real knowledgable about there.

Thanks DeDDux for the info. x4 goes from Burney to Susanville and it is closer to honey lake. I will be hunting on the north side more towards Burney. I was looking and there is two wildlife areas in x4 cinder flats and willow creek. Ash creek is also pretty close, so I might give those a try. You dont draw x zone very often so I have to fill that tag first. You got away from Cali andmoved to Montana good for you. Where abouts in Montana? I have a friend in Billings.
