I'm not hunting mule deer this year; however I have been told (and read here on the forum) that higher amounts of rain this year have kept the mule deer in good health in the northwest corner. Plus a relatively mild winter last year did not have a significant mortality rate on the mule deer.
If you are planning to do mule deer hunting this fall and don't have a tag, better jump on that leftover tag app!
You can see what is available here:
http://wildlife.state.co.us/le.....s/list.pdf
The Division of Wildlife's hunt codes are rather cryptic. The way you read this is:
First Letter (game animal) - Second letter (sex) - next set of 3 numbers - (game unit) - some internal numbers which are related to the hunt season - Type of Tag (Archery, Rifle, Muzzleloader).
So a DF003xxR (where xx is a season code) is a rifle doe tag for unit 3.
A EE301xxA is an archery either sex elk tag for unit 301.
Anyway, looking at the report it looks like there are mule deer tags available in Units 11, 12, 13, 23, 3, and 301 (Hunt Codes DM01202R, DM01203R, DF00302R, DF00303R, DE01101A, DE011P2R, DE011P3R).

Moderator I have my deer tag along with my cow elk tag.
I will hunting with http://www.rockymountainhunting.com/
My wife hunts with me. We have both been very pleased with this outfitter. This is a trespass hunt only. For two consecutive years we have harvested mule deer in the 24” + spread. I can hardly wait for the season to arrive>

Ouch, you can edit the post by hitting "edit" then you can change wide to wife. Glad to hear that both of you already have your tags lined out.
Good luck with this year's hunting! |
