Guys, I am not going to hunt coyotes with an air rifle, but check out this review of the JSB Predator pellets, The review is from reviewcentre.com
Good Points: The JSB pellets have great penetration, fast and hard hitting. Dont dirty up the barrel to bad either.
Bad Points: None that I can think of.
General comments: I have just recentley bought a Crossman Seirra pro, shoots pellets at 1000 fps, So I got my target zeroed in at 40 yards! Even at that range the rifle still had 1.2 IN. groupings. After that, I went coyote hunting. It may sound inhumane, but I called a coyote in with my foxpro, and according to my range finder he was about 22 yards away. I was in a tree stand, I shot him right behind the ear. Dropped him on the spot! He weighed in at 36 pounds. Great pellets. |

Hmmmm.... I don't know if that's such a great idea. Coyotes are varmints, but a hunter still has a responsibility to make a swift and clean kill, part of that is using a weapon proportionate to the animal's size. Right behind the ear at 22yds? Sounds like you made a good shot, but I'd still discourage this. To each his own, I reckon, as long as it's legal, but something about this doesn't hit me right. I'd almost consider a .22 to be somewhat small for a coyote.
Out of curiosity, do you know the bullet weight of your pellets? |

I've shot squirrels, jackrabbits and snowshoe hare with a Gamo Big Cat (1,000fps.) with Gamo Master Point (7.8gr.), Magnum (8.3gr.) and Hunter (8.4gr.) pellets. Out to 30 yds. they go right through them for heart/lung shots. I've shot ground squirrels at 60 yds. with Beeman Wadcutter Special Coating pellets.
I wouldn't shoot a coyote with it but I could see it as being very possible. |

I am headed out to a bigbore airgun shoot in Wyoming this month, and may take a coyote. But i sure wouldn't use a small-bore air rifle on one. I'll be using a bigbore air rifle (.454 caliber) on a coyote if I get the chance.
 I just hope it isn't overkill

Here is another post I made on hunting with them, along with a few links to get you started.
I must warn you: these guns are extremely addictive, and you may forget you even own powderburning guns for awhile. I get 250 .45caliber slugs for around $32, and 100 roundballs is only about $10, which allows me to shoot a lot of.45 caliber slugs on the cheap!

Sort of like taking the recoil of a .45ACP target load pistol, and putting it into a rifle is the best way I can describe it. Lotsa fun! |
