I dont know if anyone else has read this but, Im surprised you dont hear about a whole lot of hollywood types not endorsing a democrat. I know, I know some of you out there think that movie stars and musicians all are jumping on the the Mccain band wagon.

WOW. My respect for Jon Voight just went way up. That took guts for a Hollywood guy. :thumbsup1:

There are actually quite a few conservatives in Hollywood, but they pretty much have to stay in the closet for fear of being shut out. Standing up and speaking out as a conservative in that business today is like defending someone on the blacklist a few decades ago. I don't expect we'll see Jon Voight in theaters as much now. Hard to believe Ronald Reagan was once president of the Screen Actors' Guild.

Good for Jon and good for the Washington Times to run his opinion.

Pretty amusing.

Washington Times owned by the Reverend Yung sung Moon (remember the Moonies?) talking about godlike politicians.

Stay in the closet? Kinda like Mark Foley and Larry Craig "in the closet". Yeah I guess you are right about them staying in the closet until they get caught with their pants down.

Sorry man, just had to you opened yourself up for that one. Now, get your blood pressure down I was just funning for a moment.

I read the Jon Voight thing on the Huffpost so it was reported and on a 'liberal' site to boot. I think he sounds awfully scared, like some do here, and believe that if Obama wins the Apocalypse will soon follow. Poor fellow.

There a lot of reasons why someone would disagree with your political opinion than fear, SoCo. I could just as easily argue that you're afraid of victory in Iraq, afraid of the 2nd Amendment, afraid of a candidate that can do more than read glowing speeches off a teleprompter, and afraid of having a president with actual leadership experience.

The convenient thing about reducing an opponent's viewpoints to "fear" is that you don't have to debate anything. It's a tactic employed by the intellectually lazy because it gives them cause to feel better about not engaging.

"The Democratic Party, in its quest for power, has managed a propaganda campaign with subliminal messages, creating a God-like figure in a man who falls short in every way. It seems to me that if Mr. Obama wins the presidential election, then Messrs. Farrakhan, Wright, Ayers and Pfleger will gain power for their need to demoralize this country and help create a socialist America."

"This is a perilous time, and more than ever, the world needs a united and strong America. If, God forbid, we live to see Mr. Obama president, we will live through a socialist era that America has not seen before, and our country will be weakened in every way."

I realize we have a different way of thinking and looking at things and with that being said phrases like "The Democratic Party, in its quest for power, has managed a propaganda campaign with subliminal messages, creating a God-like figure in a man who falls short in every way.",.

And "There's not a cell in my body that can accept the idea that Mr. Obama can keep us safe from the terrorists around the world,", Sounds like irrational fear to me.

Almost sounds verbatim to the talk that crazy dude who opened fire in the church said.

SoCo, you're on a roll today -- hilarious stuff.

Okay...ok...stop...laughing. Got it. So let me get this right -- your contention now is that everyone who says something conservative is like the guy that opened fire in the church?

Now my challenge is to try to sort out all the info that just flooded into my head illustrating the absurdity of that correlation. Hold on...I'm still laughing.

OK, here's one. Following your logic, Democrats are terrorists because so many of their talking points mirror Bin Laden's statements almost verbatim.

Well, maybe I'm wrong. It could be that Bin Laden is mirroring Democrat talking points, which would make him a Democrat.

Pick either one -- they're both as valid as that ridiculous statement you just made.

Glad I could you give you a laugh there Expat, laughter is good for the soul

What I referenced was the similarity in the shooters rant and Voight's op-ed which amounted to blaming democrats and liberals for terrorist appeasement and if Obama wins the US being weak and socialist. Go back and read the shooters statement and Voights there very similar in regard to their fear of what's happening and going to happen because of 'liberals'.

SoCo, do you honestly think I'm so stupid that I couldn't understand what you said the first time you said it?

I stand by my point -- it's a ridiculous correlation.

No -- there are far more similarities between Bin Laden talking points and the Democrats. The difference is that I'm not trying to insinuate that the Democrats are drawing inspiration from Bin Laden, or that Bin Laden is motivated by Demcratic rhetoric (although I do think it gives him hope).

A few things, You like to bring up larry craig as often as possible Ive noticed, but you dont ever seem to remember that it happens on both sides of the isle. Second of all I have come to a conclusion. You are the one who is scared, you are scared that people will have jobs and be forced to provide for themselves and not suck off of the government. You are scared that the U.S. wont take in all those poor illegal immigrants and provide for them. And you are scared that eventually obamas supporters(those people who take everything at face value and will believe anything the great one says, the ones who drank the Koolaid) will find out that global warming issues have done nothing but make Al Gore rich.
