Well JR, I was. But monday I dropped Bodie off at the vet. He has some cheat dig in in his right front and rear feet and had to be operated on to get it out. He's laying around the house now with both feet bandaged! Then monday night Squirt quit drinking and eating and got really larthgic. Then he barfed up a bucket full of stomach bile, huge yellow pile of it in the living room. Did it again tuesday morning and this time got a head shake to boot looked like parkinsens disease. Tuesday morning we were back at the vet! Some kind of stomach problem, a shot and some pills and he's doing better today. Oh, his temp was 103.4, normal is 102.
Once all the bandages are off and all the meds used up and these guys acting theirselves again, I'll get excited! |

Damn Don, sorry to hear that :( I do hope the boys are up and running soon. any idea what made Squirt sick? No "lasting effects" on Bodie's feet?
Give 'em both a good ear rub, Ill keep good thoughts going for a good and healthy recovery :)

Anyone else been out yet?
Had Dutchess, me Large Munsterlander, out for her frist time today. She does great, just needs to hold point longer. The frist two covey she came across, she rushed in and blew them up. The 3rd covey she was doing good with the pointing. held till I flushed, then ran after them, shaking her head in disgust at me shooting abillity...or the lack there of
At least we had a nice morning stroll threw the fields..lol
Good hunting all,

I spent a couple days in the Ochoco's looking fof grouse, never moved the first bird. Tried low around streams. though that they'd be near water, no dice. Went up hinh and same thing, not a bird moved!
Went to White River today. Good looking country but brush thick as sin. Boy's did a great job busting into it but I couldn't see but about ten yards most the time. Never saw a bird and never heard one flush.
I got to thinking, in 50yrs hunting this state, I shot one Blue grouse almost 30 yrs ago and two Ruff's last year. Saw three others also. I don't think we're all that well endowed with grouse here. Oh well quail, chukar and huns open next month. Think I'll go thin out my training bird pen! |

Don, sounds like the boys recovered great. :)
Come over the hill and we can run some clear cuts I've found for mountain quail. Small birds, but they keep Dutchess on her toes :) |
