I am going to try to archery hunt unit 36 this year and would like to know if it will be worthy my time. Im not looking for a trophy but does anyone know if there are many bull elk in the area? Thanks.

Was up there in July at the Jamboree and me and my wife saw one group with 16 cows 11 calves and 7 last years calves. They are there.

Hunting is always worth your time :P

Area 36 had pretty dismal success rates for rifle hunters last year - 7% for bulls. But that is a different season, they could be in there during the archery season. I have never been there, but from the sounds of it, they might not be hard to find and probably aren't very vocal if the wolf activity is high in the area.

If you are bowhunting and a resident, there are better areas.
