| I was wondering what everybody thought about these scopes. I remember a time when they were good and then bad but how about now. I have had Leupolds, Nikons and Bushnell Elites. How do they compare to these brands? I have been looking at them due to I'm picking up a new Marlin guide gun in 45-70 and I'm needing a scope for it. I was wanting not to spend as much money for the scope as I did for the gun this time. |

Weaver scopes were once an great, solid, reasonably priced, quality, American made rifle scope. Very much on par with the old Redfields, Bausch&Lomb, and the emerging Leupolds. Very popular scope with the generations of the 1940's, 50's, and 60's. In fact it's not uncommon to still find old Weaver scopes and mounts on many older rifles still in use. Kinda declined around the late 70's. The company went though a series of acquisitions, liquidations, and then existed only as a brand name, being made in Japan for a while, then made in lesser Asian countries currently. Not sure what the quality is like these days. One things for sure, they are no longer on par with Leupold, Nikon, or even Bushnell. Their bases and rings are still pretty good.
Leuplod has for a couple decades now taken over the market void left by the closure of the older Weaver and Redfield companies. |

| Great, thanks for the info. I did remember them being good at one time but wasn't sure of present times. |
