I received a letter in the mail today from "United Access Financial Inc." out of Midland, Ontario. They sent a check for $4,890.00 from their branch in Sioux Falls, South Dakota.

Their letter said I am a sweepstakes winner and I need to call a number for verification.

Beware: It's a big scam to get your checking account information and also a way to steal your identity. I'm throwing mine in the garbage and you should do the same if you get anything from them.

There lots of this stuff out there. I would suggest instead of throwing it away, you contact the postmaster inspector. These thing need to be reported.
