| First I would like to thank everyone on this site. I have been viewing for about a month and the information has been very helpful. The ongoing hunting discussions prompted me to join. I also come with alot of questions about hunting in the west. Currenlty I am planning a mule deer/antelope hunt in Cody Wyoming in 2009 with a bunch of friends. I am not familar with any good rifle reloads for my 30-06 and 25-06 for the spcies and distance that I might be shooting (in western NY everything is shotgun). Even though i have plenty of time to experiement any advice will gladly be taken. |

| The 25-06 is one of the best calibers for antelope & it's taken it's fair share of mulies. I have a 30-06 as well but i would go with the 25-06 & use a Nosler Accubond or even the Sierra Gameking. Lots of mixed feelings about the Gamekings, but i've had those bullets travel completely thru an antelope from end to end from my 280rem. I hunt mostly with Nosler Partitions but have switched to the Accubonds this past year. If i were using my 30-06 i would use the 150gr Hornady BTSP, i've had goodluck with Reloader 22 & Federal primers. |

Ditto. I can't think of anything much better unless it is the .270 Win. I am a firm believer in the Barnes X bullets. You might like the Triple shock. Sight in 3" high at 100 yards & practise, practise, practise.Sighting in 3" high @ 100 yards will give you about the maximum ranges with out hold over or under.
If you have one bring something along the lines of a .22 center fire. If you are blessed & get your antelope quick there are a lot of varmints to shoot. Shucks if you bring your .25/06 that will do a pretty credible job too. |

| Shot lots of prarie dogs in unit 47 with my 280rem & 7 Mag, the wind was always to strong for the 22-250 so broke out the big boys!! |

| WyoJoe and 7mag thanks for the advice. Right now I am loading the gameking bullets and have good luck in the backyard with varmits. I am curious about the expansion of the bullets on larger game. If the barnes bullets shoot well I will def try them. Any more advice is appreciated. I can always use another excuse to get to the range. |

| I would also recommend the Hornady SST in your 25-06. I don't particularily like ballistic type bullets but the Hornady SST is a tuff bullet that will work well on both mulies & speed goats. |

| I shoot the Hornady SST's out of my 257 Roberts in 117grs they are devastating on lopers and mulies alike. |
