Hiker ,How are ya doin ?? .I've busy the past few days gathering up some coon bait . The river not far from the house is full of shad now and I've been hitting there every day . I got 20 or maybe a couple more than that in the freezer . I was wating for the water to drop so I could use the fly . That's not going to happen too soon .We have 10 to 20 mils of rain for tomorrow and then some more on Monday . June will be good for the fly fishing ,hopefully . I managed to get a 30 inch striper Monday . Got 3 shad and the bass that day .

I'm doing pretty good overall. I figured you were busy fishing or something. Congrats on the Striper. Looks like your trapping season turned out good for you this year? Market seems to be holding steady on most fur. Are you going to do any bear hunting this spring?

Not into hunting bears . I love to snare them though . Too much work involved to hunt bears . Lugging bait forever ! .With the snares the bear is there waiting for me to make the rounds . Where we set the snares .It's only a few miles from Mark so he does most of the looking . We just bait once unless something springs the snare and robs the bait . That don't happen very often .

We have some more furs on the next sale, which starts on the 22nd of May. to the 27th .I can get into my account and watch the lot #s and listen to waht is going on at the sale . That's pretty cool .. I know what we got for each fur as soon as the lot # sells .I copy down all my lot #s and watch for them to come up

We don't have a spring bear hunt in Nova Scotia . They used to have one in New Brumswick . Not sure if the still do or not . There was a lot of cryers complaining abot the spring hunting of bears . So I 'm not sure where they spring hunt bears ...

I didn't realize Nova Scotia didn't have a spring bear season. They outlawed Spring bear hunting here too.

If my memory serves my right . I don't believe we ever had a spring bear hunting season in Nova Scotia

Hell, if most of the NS gov't had their way, we wouldn't have a fall bear hunt either. As it is, they want us to jump hoops to hunt bear now. :](*,)

Hammer , we're olny young fellas .We wouldn't remember that far back .....LMAO..... Chestergolf , I know what ya mean about the hoops . Registered sites ,written permission ,and they have to go to your site and inspect it . I set one up for my son one time and they even had an aireal photo of it which they gave to me . Just a bunch of BS. if ya ask me . The snares don't have all that BS . .Just the same regs as any other trapping .

Hey, for us non-trapper guys, how about providing some more information on what this all means.

Thanks.

CVC , There is lotting #s that is put on every peice of fur that goes to the auction . There could be 1 or ther could be 100 in the same lot . If that lot sells for $400.00 Then every body that has furs in that lot gets $400.00 for their furs .If they hat 2 furs in the same lot then they would get $800.00.. The furs are all graded in size ,color and clearty . The clearty means that for example the belly on the cats has all white and no red fur in the flank area . The other cats we have on the sale are all large cats . They didn't meet the standards to make them top lot cats . I have the chart on here somewhere .I'll see if I can get it posted here. Anything you don't understand just ask
