Hey everybody, just found this site and have to say its awesome. :thumbsup1: Now to my question. I love going on hunting trips various places. To be honest though outside of wisconsin, I've only been to Colorado and Idaho. But this year its not going to work out with the Colorado season starting four days before I have to go back to college. I was thinking about going on a pronghorn hunt in colorado. Ya i know I missed the drawing deadline but thought I might be able to purchase a leftover tag. If anyone has any info on antelople hunting, or any other type of hunting I could do in mid August, I would really appreciate information. Im game for anything as long as its inexpensive, cuz like I said I'm in college. Thanks

Leftover tags drop in July. There usually are a few, especially doe-only tags. I believe there is an over-the-counter doe-only archery tag as well, although the units its good in is highly restricted.

I'm a college student too and it can be tough to find open seasons that don't conflict with class. My suggestion is to check spring and early fall bear seasons. In Washington, I get a solid month of open season before I have to go back to school.

If you're at a school with a late start, you might be able to get in on early bow season in some places.

Or, you could skip class. Sometimes that's the only way.

Thanks for the info. Ya I really hate to miss school. Did it last year, but this fall i will be in a bunch of labs so cant really do it again. I was looking at the Montana seasons and there was something called Antelope 900 which started august 15. I was just wondering what that was all about. Thanks again for the info.

colorado has over the counter archery antelope tags for certain areas, it's buck only for the the first part of the season. then the tag turns into either sex later

The tags are valid in all units except 2, 3, 4, 5, 10, 11, 12, 13, 18,
21, 27, 28, 30, 37, 41, 62, 66, 67, 68, 70, 79,
80, 81, 82, 83, 87, 88, 103, 181, 201, 211,
214, 301, 391, 411, 441, 512, 551, 681, 682,
791 and Bosque del Oso SWA in unit 851.

Is there much for public land out there, or would ranchers be willing to allow people to hunt for a tresspass fee?

there's a new big game access program out on the eastern plains that allows guys access to hunt certain private properties that are enrolled in the program. you have to buy a 40 dollar BGAP permit.

You might consider Wy. there's usually left over tags for some areas.
