| Alright listen up you Texans need to stop invading our hunting units and acting like you know more about elk hunting than us the way I see it is that before any of u guys can get a tag we as residents should already have our tags. No offense to you, but it is not fair for u guys to be getting a tag betore we can get one. |

| We do give out a lot of non-resident tags, more than any other elk state, at least that I'm aware of. But we still get 65% of the tags before the NR's get their 35%. Maybe back in the 70's most of our NR's where Texans but I doubt if folks from the Lonestar state account for that many of the tags these days. In the areas that I hunt, I mainly see Wisconsin, Missouri, Utah and California license plates. If you think Colorado gives out to many tags to non-residents, you should write the Wildlife Commision as they're the ones who set the quotas. |

| Yes I do agree with you on this subject, but I know that my letter could make no difference they give this amount of tags out because the non residents are how we recieve the most money. I am actually going through college to get a degree in wildlife managment and to become a DOW officer so I am fairly proud of how the DOW runs or state. And about the Texans its not that I believe it is only them I have just seen from the area that I hunt some people from Texas that need to learn to respect the game that we hunt and show more respect for our land, they were also not very friendly. |

Your statement about "Texans" is immature and out of line. I hope you learn to not make rash generalizations before you become a DOW officer. Truth be known, slovenliness does not know the bounds of state, gender, or race.
As for game, they are federal property managed by the states. Whether YOU should get your tag before THEM is debatable. |

| Excuse me, but I am not racist have nothing against Texans the only thing I had said is that I have had bad expierience with a group of Texans in my hunting area, due to them shooting at nothing while I was in the black timber stalking a herd of elk which had ruined my hunt, this is grounds for me to have said something, so I am sorry, but it was there fault for my view on them. |

elkhunt1 you have every right to be mad about that experiance but, think about this. How much do you pay for and elk permit. Would you make up the differance on the revenue lost. After all you being in the willdlife feild you should know how the DOW is funded.
It also has been debated that non residents shouldn't have to pay non resident fees to hunt federal land. After all federal land no matter what state it is in is not part of that state.
As I said you have the right to be upset with the hunters that ruined your hunt and I'm still willing to pay the non-res fees. But I beleive your state would sure miss the economic boost out of state hunters bring to your state. I know what it costs me I'm just trying to give you the veiw of an outsider looking in.
By the way Last year Kinda on the other side of the mountain where we hunt a group form N.Y. decided they better make sure their shooting irons were shooting straight. They put their camp right in the middle of good elk country and chased all the elk to our side of the moutain. To make a long story short by Mon. evening of the 2nd season 9 of us killed 3 6x6 bulls a 5x5 2 4x4's and 2 cows. We were so loaded down with meat we decided to pull up camp and go home on Tues. |
