Hi ADKBEAR,

I thought of buying a H&R Handy Rifle in .45-70 which I'll use with bp cartridges. Will be a good pill for moose and red deer. But I don't know any dealer for H&R here in Germany. Can you help?

Regards

Sure I am an international gun runner known as "The Phat Cobra"

Just kidding there buddy  I would not know how to begin except for you to go to the H&R home page http://www.hr1871.com/

Proublem is they do not give an email address to post questions to them and under find a dealer all they have is the USA states?

They have an address and phone number listed. You could send them a letter or call and ask how to buy one of their guns in Germany???

H&R 1871, LLC

ADKBEAR,

I'm new to this blog but have some experience with several inlines. That is a nice rifle and if I were buying another that is the one I would get. The thing about inlines is they are like compound bows in that you buy the latest gizmo this year and next year they come out with something else and last years gun (or bow) is now not worth much. A nice custom flinter or caplock will hold it's value. I have owned Knights, Rem 700, and a TC. They all shot fine until I went to 3 Pyrodex pellets then accuracy went bad. Sabot autopsy showed that even the knight high pressure sabots sometimes cracked and base mushroomed from pressure. My Chonograph indicated velocity well over 2K but it's no good without accuracy so I use 2 pellets. Velocity is still pretty good.

I read somewhere where pyrodex reccomends you dont ever use 3 pellets. Cant remember where but ill try to find it. Another muzzloader told me when i shoot lay out a white sheet in front of yourself to see how much unburned powder you have, Ive found that more than 70 grains of powder or 2 pellets there is alot of waste.

Maybe, but the instructional video that came with my M/L recommended using 3 Pyrodex pellets (by name).

Here in NY you can use a ML during the ML season and during regular firearm season

Here in Tennessee, the smokeless powder ML can be used during the ML season and gun season. Different states have different laws. I think he wanted to take his to Indiana for a hunt up there during the ML season, but up there, you can only use black powder rifles during the ML hunts. He told me the distance with it is it will outshoot 30-'06 but not quite a 7mm. Seems to me this would be outlawed in Indiana since they don't allow the use of any kind of rifles unless it is a blackpowder.

All he would have to do is use BlackHorn 209 powder instead of "Smokeless" and he would be right back up to speed and on target. 8-)
