I have this old four man dome tent that I was going to throw out. I am going to try and convert it into a ground blind instead. I was thinking of just cutting slotted windows into it, then cammo it some way.
Any suggestions or tips? |

We took a 10x10 dome tent and cut a hole in the floor to use as a crapper tent. Works great.

I suppose it could work, depending on how big it is. You do not want it too bulky. A Double Bull blind (as a size comparison) will hold two adult hunters with no problem. The color of the blind could also be a problem if it is too light. For camo, I would look at covering it in the manner of a gillie suit. Burlap is relativly cheap and comes in camo as well as plain colors. You really need to break up the outline of the blind.

For any bear blind i like to have some fair sized trees/limbs around me--i sit in middle in case bear wants to get cozy.

My last bear was taken from the ground. This was a last minute hunt. There was a good size Ash tree about 10 yards from the bait. I sat with my back against the tree. It was wide open between me and the bait. There had only been one bear hitting this bait. This would not be a good setup for an active bait. I shot the bear quartering toward me, between the brisket and the right shoulder. Field dressed it tipped the scale at 280 pounds.
