I was wondering about going to wyoming to hunt for all 3 species. Are there any areas where all 3 species r together or in close proximity? Also Can i harvest a mule deer and a whitetail buck or is it one or the other? Thanks.

It will be either a muley or a whitetail. Not both. Watch the Game & Fish web site to find where seasons overlap. http://gf.state.wy.us/

Sorry, I would have to disagree. Here in Lusk, WY we have all three right on our ranch. I have missed a Mule deer in the morning and ended up shooting a whitetail that afternoon. The missed shot and the kill were about 600 yards away from each other.
All of the rifle seasons overlap in my area, from the 1st of October to the 15th. The year I shot that buck I only had a general tag, meaning I could take a mule deer or a whitetail but not both. Last year I drew for a whitetail tag that lasts a full two months. Guess they really want to get rid of them. If you draw that tag you could go after a mule deer and a whitetail or two whitetail I guess if you want to.
With that being said, Lusk isn't the best place to come if you are looking for a lot of public land or a lot of trophy quality animals.
You might check out the northeast corner of the state. There alot of deer up there, both species and antelope too.
Don't know if this helped but there it is.

Thank you to both of you for the input. I hunt here in northern michigan and i really would like to move away from here. I dont know where yet but someplace with mountains. I have been to utah to visit a few years back but when i checked into hunting there the costs were a little steep. Im also looking to DIY with a friend or two so we would be experienced hunters.

Hoss, not to jump in but I think he ment you can only shoot one buck per year, not that you can't find them both in the same area. North MI that should be atainable for next year the application date has already passed for non-residents, unlewss you can find something in the left over drawing.

I have heard that but have never saw anything like that in the regs. Let me know where you see that in the regs. I don't see why I couldn't if I get the general deer tag and draw the special whitetail tag.

"no person shall apply for and receive more than a total of two (2) deer licenses valid for the taking of an antlered deer of which only one (1) shall be valid for a mule deer."

I think you could make this work to where you can take two whitetail bucks or one whitetail buck and one mule deer buck.

"For deer, any person may apply for and receive a maximum of one (1) Limited Quota deer, Resident General deer, or Nonresident Region General deer license, EXCEPT after the initial and leftover license drawings are completed any person may apply for and receive a maximum of one (1) Limited Quota any white-tailed deer license valid for hunt areas 11-15, 51, 65, 66, 88 or 167."

However, when I read this I'm thinking more like you guys. The way I understand this is that the only way you could get two buck tags is to get the general tag and hope that there were leftover whitetail tags that you could apply for after the initial drawing.

Well, I'm not a Lawyer or anything so tell me what you think about all this.
