Whoa - to enjoy some long awaited sunshine I went on a bit of a walk - in one of the areas I hunt turkeys. We're at around 2650 ft here. Almost every day for the past 4 weeks it has snowed, at least some. (And before that we had a gargantuan winter.) Had to park the jeep at a snow drift across the whole road. Still gigantic drifts around. Turkey terrain was either still snow covered or just melted. Little sign (of turkey, or anything else).
But the ticks seem to have made it through - just pulled one out of my hair. |

Several years ago I thought I'd get a little spring exercise and get pictures of Bighorn Sheep and Mountain Goats on their winter range a couple hours south of my home. Most of the snow had melted from the south facing slope that climbed to get up where the Sheep and Goats were.
After about an hours climb I sat down in a sunny grassy spot for a break. In the few minutes it took me to get a sandwich out of my pack, I found 6 ticks crawling up my legs. |

| hmmmmm ... except for the first few ticks early on - nothing lately. I went climbing in a spot the other day where I sometimes come back with dozens, and not a thing. |
