Why look for for a caliber if there is a ,375H+H Mag on the market .??
Its a caliber that will be hard to beat . Any big game hunter in Africa will agree that it is the best all round caliber . |

I'll agree with you there. It is probably my all time favorite round. But saying that I do have to confess I have a P-17 waiting to be turned into a .416 Remington. That will be my DGR while "El Troubador" (my .375) will be for everything else. I just like throwing big chunks of lead. |

| This is one of those dicussions where I'm sure there will be many differing opinions posted here. It wasn't too long ago that someone asked about the best dangerous game cartridge. People sure love talking and debating this topic. |

| I have never hunted Africa, Don't own a 375 or 416. I use a 444 marlin with 300gr Speer Uni core with 55.5 grains of powder around 2211 fps. I shot straight Through both shoulders of a big bull Elk at 85yds. I would not hesitate to use this rifle for Grizzly. |

Is that not what this is all about ?? To hear the different opinions of the hunters ?
But to answer your question - there is no "best" caliber - The best caliber is the person behind the caliber . Pointless to have .600 or .700 whatever express and you cant hit a barn door .
Seen guys take big animals with relative small calibers .
Anyway - I guess every hunter who is at peace with his rifle will regard it as the "best". |

Uh, there wasn't any question on my part, just a statement. But you are right about any hunter at peace with his rifle regarding it as the best. Still, nothing wrong with discussing this topic at all. |
