I was looking for turkey spots and got permission to help with a beaver infestation a guy was having. Anybody ever eaten one of those things?
PS-He shut me down on the turkey front! Never hurts to ask. |

| Kill enough beavers in a proffessional and non invasive way and you may get turkey access in the future. I would check the laws down there. In WA the only way to take beaver is by trapping. |

Have I even eaten beaver?? :evil: :laugh: :laugh: :laugh: But seriously though.... a few people I know like the tastes of beaver meat and although I have not cooked the stuff up I would give it a try. The meat shouldn't taste that bad because all they eat is veggies. |

| Beaver is not that much different than a Musk Rat. Those I killed a few of years ago intending to eat them, I'd heard they were good. Well took them home and took a long careful look and now I know why they are called a rat! Didn't eat them but bet they were alright. Think I would try a beaver, to big to be a rat. I've eaten Porcupine and it is great! |

I have eaten swamp rats and and "brush pigs" in south america, they where supose to be in the same family as the beaver, "rodents". They tasted pretty good actually, was a "white" meat kinda stringy...no didnt taste like chicken :P)
Would think beaver would be similar tasting, Ild maybe try cutting the meat into "bite" size chunks and roasting over grill...schiscab style (how ever ya spell it ) meat on a stick...lol |

I have eaten beaver, and it is very good. I've had it roasted, smoked and in a slow cooker with mushroom soup. It actually tastes quite a bit like squirrel or woodchuck. Although, woodchuck and beaver are a bit more tender than squirrel.
The best part of it is saving some and taking it to work. I just love the looks I get after I tell someone what they just had to eat. Absolutely priceless. |
