Hey guys,

We at Ontario Trophy Bucks are looking for help with signatures to try to stop the anti hunters who are trying to stop us in Ontario from baiting bears in order to hunt them. As you are likely already aware the animal rights groups have succeeded in closing down our spring bear hunt, and now they are trying to stop us from baiting them for the fall hunts. It's only a matter of time that they will try to close down the bear hunt all together.

If you would, it would be greatly appreciated if you would help out with signatures to try to stop this from passing. The bear population as well as bear problems has sky rocketed since they won and had the spring bear hunt closed.

Thanks you for your help.

I'll be honest with you. I'm fairly pleased that this particular bill (S-213) passed. Essentially its a compromise by the Ontario Gov't to give in part some concessions to the antis (increased animal cruelty penalties) while ensuring hunters, trappers and anglers can continue their respective pursuits. This is why the antis are so ticked with its passing. They didn't get anywhere near what they were demanding.
As well, I suspect that the Gov't will tell them the matter has been dealt with and for them to get on with life. Even though there's a private members bill asking for changes, I just don't feel it'll get anywhere.
I'm not taking a back seat on the issue nor am I going to suggest this is the end of it. As a bear outfitter in Ontario, I'd be quite concerned with baiting restrictions as thats the only practical way bears can be hunted here. I'll be front and center if the issue does in fact take hold again but with the number of problem bears in Ontario, I don't think the Ontario gov't wants to see hunting of them ended.

I think any time you can nip an anti-hunting move in the butt you should do it. We didn't think this gun registry was all that bad initially either and.... The politicians are smart enough to add a couple of good points to every bill. Even the worst medicine goes down a bit easier with a sugar coating. I am tired of letting the antis chip away at the very sport we hold dear and spew out their misinformed info. to garnish support for their cause. They got your spring hunt and will now focus on the next goal. It won't end until they have ended hunting altogether.
