| So the trout/landlocked salmon season here in Vermont opens in 9 days and I've got the itch! Anyone else here like early spring trout/salmon fishing? I don't fly fish and I'm wondering what other folks like to use to get 'em? |

O.K., lets include fly fishermen too. What flys or spinners or whatever do people here like to use for trout & salmon in the spring. I'm a fan of the blue fox mid depth vibrex spinners. Of course plain old worms work here in just about any season but I'm looking at fishing artificial lure & fly fishing streams this year.
Anyone...? |

As far as live bait goes for trout its usualy worms with the ocasional dead minow being used.
Hard tackle for trout small to medium sized huskey jerks and x-raps; 0,1,2 meps black furies or silver or gold blue foxes and small spoons williams preferably.
Soft plastics are berkley gulp leeches and minnows, sinkos and tube jigs
Flies I like muddler minnows matched to the size and colour of local baitfish and the classic brookie flies like wulfs, montreals, adams etc.
I've got little experence with landlocked salmon but did hook and lose a large black salmon(atlantic salmon that spent the winter in fresh water) last spring.
But I've tried for them a few times and its mostly the same as trout just slightly larger and if your fly fishing since around here they're generaly found in lakes troling is the most practical way so forget your dry and wet flys grab your streamers. |

I mostly fly fish for trout. Once in a while I use a worm for them.
But the best thing I like to go for is LL Salmon. I troll tandem streamer flies either on lead core or a sinking fly line. Seems to work pretty good. |

| Ive been doing really good this year at the start it was slow because this year has been different from all others its seems to me all the fish species have been hitting late this year and staying in the rivers longer due to high waters and weather conditions but now its on heres a few lakers. |
