| A while back I had found a web site that listed rifle and pistol powders in order from coolest to hottest burning. If any one might know what site it is on I would appriciate it thanks. |

Help me out here. So I know the burn rate of powders - so what do I do with it?
I look at manuals for powder suggestions and loads so how does knowing the burn rate of a powder help me load better ammo? |

Most manuals give several powder charges for a particular bullet weight so it is pretty well covered. Maybe ?? They don't give data for a 20 ",22" 24" & 26" barrels in the same caliber & same bullet. This is where increasing or slowing the burn rate can correct things like barrel jump, secondary pressures, etc. while getting the maximum velocity and energy from your reloads.
Look at the very top of the link bitmasher posted. That caution is to be taken seriously.

I think that was the point I was trying to make. I am going to rely on manuals from reliable sources for my information, so knowing the burn rate might be nice to know, it really doesn't help me. |

| the reason i was wanting a born rate table was for a few reasons, the slower burning powders in some cases need a mag primer, and alot of the time you will hear of a good load for a caliber you try it and it dosent work. The manuals only have so many powders, so I can cross them ont the chart and see what else might be close to that. |
