| Yes , There really are people that are proud to call themselves a hunter and live in california. I'm one ! I live to hunt deer and wild boar , and am looking for new friends that appreciate hunting and all it represents . If it wasn't for the ethical hunters of America , the whitetail deer , the elk , the bear and mountain lion would all be extinct, instead of the present day populations in the millions. It's a sad fact that non-hunters just don't understand that hunters are essential for the future wellbeing of virtually all American wildlife. If the non-hunting population truly care about the wildlife of our country , then they should all purchase a hunting license and sit at home with the knowledge that the money that they spent on the license goes to protect this valuable resource for generations to come . Lets face it the past is gone and its not coming back , and now that most of the predators have been eliminated ,man must fill that role . |

| I live down in San Diego. I'm new to hunting in this area - it doesn't look like there's too much going on! Would anybody want to share the location of a good "Honey Hole" within one to two hours of San Diego? I would love to find a good spot for Mule Deer down this way. Thanks in advance! |

Message to OZSTRIKER22,
I also live in San Diego and enjoy the local
deer hunting. I've been doing it for some time and have been sucessful in the past. The
hunting depends on the available water in the
blm and National forest land. There is a lot
of area that does not hold deer and knowing the area is vital. I learned the techique for
hunting locally from an old Indian who taught
me his ways.

Thanks for replying GreyWolf!
You have no idea how encouraging that is to hear! I was raised in Santee and La Mesa, however I've only hunted dove, quail, and rabbits in San Diego county. All of my friends hunt Deer and Elk in Colorado... but I am not able to go this year. I'd like to harvest a deer this winter, but won't be able to go far from home.
I've driven around some, and it seems there is a lot of land but only a little deer. It would help to know what maps to buy for what area's.
I would enjoy talking some more to you, so please email me. Just click on my Username to the left - Ozstriker22. Then when it gives you my info, click on the (Send a Private Message) link and drop me a line.
Thank you very much for your time,
Jesse |

| Another California hunter here. Just got back from D8 opener. My buddy got a 4x4 opening morning, but other than that, we didn't see another deer, not even a doe. We are going to head back up in two weeks and hunt up near the timberline, weather permitting. |

Hey
I'm a newly licensed hunter, but have it in my blood. I'm here in Los Angeles, and plan on doing some bird hunting to start and go pig and deer to follow. If there are any reccomendations within an hour or two I love to hear them. It's great to see hunters in California. (I'm orig from Winnipeg, MB)

Greg,
Welcome to the forum and what is the origin
of your username? (it's great)
I'm a little south of you in San Diego but
welcom to the land of fruits and nuts.
What's a guy from Manatoba doing in Hollywood? Anyway, hope you have a lot of
success in your hunting adventures and if I
can help, just respond....
