Thank you for the most enjoyable article. It was nice to read a balanced and objective review of an African hunt.

Excellent article, not to long ,just right. only one thing missing, as in all stories, and that is, why is everyone afraid to include a total cost i.e. home to hunt --hunt ---hunt to home?

Cost is a personal issue that would largely depend on how the hunter approaches his/her hunt. I believe that it must be difficult to put an exact price on a hunt if you were to keep in mind that some hunters do all the arrangements themselves, while others prefer to use the services of a booking agent. All about personal preferences I guess?

I really enjoyed your article. I got the opportunity to hunt kudu in South Africa a few years back. I had a great time.

Great article - just thought I'd mention that Kudu (Greater Kudu) numbers have taken a real bashing over winter - anthrax and rabies will do that every time and these last few years have seen some amazing numbers of Kudu and Gemsbok in Southern Africa.
So, if you fancy a trophy Kudu, be sure to clarify that with your Agent before you go as some locations are much better than others!
Personally speaking, I know 2 farms that have HUGE Kudu and Eland - much larger than some of the more mainstream examples, still gold medals, but not as exceptional as 60+ inch examples - so if this is what you want - be sure your agent and outfitter know well in advance!
Cheers
ps - here's me at sundown with a 58 incher in the back of my pick-up. He was a Gold Medal winner and we took just under 160kg of dressed meat from the carcass (circa 350lbs) - now that's a lot of Kudu!
