Hey guys like I said I realy want a new .22 LR, because my old one broke and, I just love sittin' in my feild shootin' at cans and paper targets. The .22 LR is perfect for target shootin' because ammo is realy cheap 10 dollars for 550 rounds at wallyworld! But i wanted my new one to be an accurate, reliable rifle, So the 2 I found are the marlin model 60 and the ruger 10/22. They are both great guns to shoot. So I checked with my local walmart and the ruger 10/22 cost 204.95, but the marlin model 60 only cost 134.95. Thats a 70 dollar difference. Now i am wondering if yall think the 10/22 is worth 70 dollars more than the model 60. I love both guns, i am just curious what your opinions are on this,Thanks.

the ruger 10\22 is a good gun. I have had mine for years. You also get what you paid for.

you might try the local dealer instead of walmart. Walmart isn't always the cheapest.

I'd go for the 10/22. Mine has thousands of rounds through it and not a single jam. No experience with the marlin but I'd buy another 10/22 in a minute. Also lots of aftermerket parts for it, here is one that looks like a whole lot of fun.

The 10/22 is probally the one I would get. I have a marlin and I love but the are pretty much no after market parts for the gun, and in less the have changed the desgin the reciver is made of aluminium and the slide is stainless. You have to keep them very clean or they will jam up pretty easy.

I have had and grew up with both and both are great rifles, i PERSONALLY found the marlin fit me better and had a edge of accuracy, perhaps the slightly longer barrel and or the fact the marlins slightly longer stock fit me better but I dont think you could go wrong with either. I say figure out which fits your wallet and shooting style best. Would I pay 70 more for the ruger then the marlin, personally no.

i have to say spend the extra and go for the ruger. i have a ruger and a friend has a marlin and we both like the ruger more. both are about the same as far as accuracy goes but mine very rarely jams and the marlin seems like it jams about once every 50 shots.

I've had three Marlins and one Ruger. I don't like the feel of the Ruger so now and again when I think I need a 22, I usually get a Marlin. I don't shoot 22's a lot tho so have just one now, a Winchester mod 62 pump. My son has com andered my Mod 60!

I would hands down have to choose the Ruger . I have had a couple of Marlins and they were fine but they did jam more than I liked. I just bought my third 10/22. I put a super low scope on it with a one piece mount and it works great. No doubt worth the money , and if you want to trick it out the skys the limit with parts and mods. I bought one for my brother to shoot at the pawn shop for 145$ . It had a beat up stock and some wear on barrel but had been shot very little. He just bought a hogue over molded stock for it. He wants a new carbon bull barrel thats ported. I think the fluted barrels are better so I have been looking at one in stainless for my new 10/22.

There's a point in favor of the 10/22. You can throw away everything except the action and magazine and get after market parts for it. Come to think of it, you can even get after market mag's. Don't like the way it looks? No sweat, trip to
sportsmans whse and you have a new rifle!

10/22 has done me good over the years, never a problem from the rifle. Like Don said aftermarkets kits for the 10/22 are all over. If you like a "shorter" rifle, have you looked at the 10/22 charger? Is on a pistol stock with a shorter barrel. Come with tiny little bi-pods with it. Have fired one at the local gun range. Shotting at 100yrds was darn accurate.

Get a CZ bolt action. I got a Ruger and a CZ and the cz is the best 22 I have ever shot hands down.
